School Programs |
How about a music program for your school that combines the music and instruments of Traditional American and Celtic Music. The kids will be exposed to Folk, bluegrass and other styles of Traditional American Music along with the songs of Scotland, England and Ireland. Clapping, singing, interaction and fun are a large part of the event. They will learn some the stories and histories behind some of the songs. Did you know that much of what we consider "American Folk Music" actually came from those who immigrated from the United Kingdom? If you'd like, the program can be modified to include music and dance of the American Indian. (Perhaps a Thanksgiving Program?) The kids will see and hear songs and tunes played on the traditionally used to make the music. These instruments may include guitar, banjo, Autoharp, Bouzouki along with percussion instruments like Bodhran, spoons and limberjacks. Some of these instruments are "beginner friendly" and can be tried by the kids. "The Kids and the Teachers Loved the Program" Sr. Kathleen Wallace St. Mary's School, Lee Massachusetts HOW DOES THIS WORK? This program works best with smaller groups as opposed to a large assembly and is appropriate for grades K-8. The smaller the numbers of kids the more chance they have to get involved and be a part of the event. Each presentation lasts about 50 minutes but can be extended or shortened to fit you schedule. I can also do a scaled down program for pre-k students. This program is affordable. You can have a full morning of music for much less than you would pay for other events. " You can find people who are good with children, and you can find people who are good musicians but it's hard to find someone who is both. Jeff is both.
